About the Warm Springs Training Institute
Mission
The Mission of Warm Springs Training Institute (WSTI) is to foster the professional development of mental health providers who serve children and those who care for them.
Values
Warm Springs Training Institute strives to be the first choice for clinical training in behavioral health issues affecting children, families, and those who serve them.
History
In 1993, the Children's Home Society of Idaho piloted a new program that provided supervised training for interns in graduate social work or counseling programs. Subsequently, a post-doctoral residency for those with an earned doctorate in clinical, counseling, or school psychology was added. The residency provides necessary supervision hours for licensure and credentialing as Psychologists. The Training Institute's Director and three of the four psychologists on staff at the Counseling Center completed their post-doctoral residencies at the Counseling Center/Training Institute.
In 1999, the Pre-doctoral Internship in Professional Psychology was added. This program provides 2000 hours of clinical experience (including training and supervision) for graduate psychology students who have completed all the academic requirements for a Doctorate in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology. Mental health professionals-in-training gain clinical experience in a multi-disciplinary setting that currently includes professionals practicing in the fields of psychiatry, psychology, social work, counseling, art therapy, and occupational therapy.
