The child is shy and withdrawn but in counseling at our Warm Springs Counseling Center working on social and assertiveness skills. As a result of counseling, grades have improved and the child is now able to approach others to express needs or emotions without fear. Art is the favored mode of therapy. The child chose to create this dinosaur because “they are strong and eat healthy things” and because “they do not hurt others.” You can help fund this child’s counseling and therapy, and the hundreds of others who are in similar situations, by clicking on the donate now button at the top of this page, or here!

Children’s Home Society of Idaho has received a $25,000 grant from The Lightfoot Foundation to further advance its Warm Springs Training Institute Professional Development Series.

This is great news for the 38 therapists on staff at our Warm Springs Counseling Center, and for mental and behavioral health care students and professionals throughout Southwest Idaho. That’s because the Lightfoot grant helps allow the Warm Springs Training Institute to continue to offer specialized, affordable training and continuing education credits through its Professional Development Series.

To that end, the Warm Springs Institute has an excellent line up of seminars and workshops planned throughout this year.

Many thanks to The Lightfoot Foundation and to all others in our community who believe in our work.

We’ve received more than 25 donations since launching a fundraising campaign last week for Children’s Home Society’s Community Sponsorship Program. This program provides subsidies to the 60-70 kids we see each day whose families cannot afford to pay or co-pay for counseling and therapy.

Counseling and therapy are needed, though, to address mental, emotional and behavioral health issues, many of which stem from trauma, abuse, illness, and grief.

Thanks to individual donors, private foundations, and corporate contributions, the Community Sponsorship Program continues to thrive. In fact, this week we received nearly $32,000 to support this program. Granted, the program costs nearly $1 million per year, but this is a terrific bump.

Special gratitude goes to Scentsy ($24,000 corporate contribution), Bank of America ($5,000 grant), and The Penny Foundation ($2,000 grant). Also, a big thank you to our individual supporters. We appreciate your generosity!

Pictured below (left to right) are Children’s Home Society Marketing & Development Manager Joanne Taylor, Bank of America VP Dana Heath, and Children’s Home Society CEO Teresa Alexander.

The Children’s Home Society of Idaho, a Boise-based nonprofit organization that provides emotional and behavioral health care to at-risk children in the community, has recently received contributions from several companies that do business in Idaho. PacificSource Health, Walmart Foundation, Wells Fargo Foundation, Weyerhaeuser, and the Schindel Foundation have all recently pledged their support for Children’s Home Society of Idaho’s Community Sponsorship Program.
The Community Sponsorship Program eliminates funding as a barrier to emotional and behavioral health care for low-income and Medicaid families in Idaho, and allows for early intervention in the assessment and treatment of emotional and behavioral health conditions. Programs and services provided by Children’s Home Society Warm Springs Counseling Center help children and their families develop coping skills, attitudes and positive experiences necessary to succeed in educational settings, and lead happy, healthy, independent and productive lives.

In addition to corporate contributions made by PacificSource Health, Walmart Foundation, Wells Fargo Foundation, Weyerhaeuser, and the Schindel Foundation; the Boise Co-op selected Children’s Home Society of Idaho to be a recipient of its Shop for Good Program last month. On September 15, 4% of the Co-ops total store and Wine Shop sales were donated to Children’s Home Society of Idaho totaling $2,824.31. The Boise Co-op’s Shop for Good program benefits one local non-profit each month.
